When Timing is Key…

Time to...

Watching time fly by...

Some say that perfect timing can be the difference between success and failure. I learnt that lesson the hard way recently. In fact, it was just yesterday.

About a couple of weeks ago, I announced that I was taking my trials that will lead up to my finals (SPM) this year. And so I studied…

And studied…

And studied some more...

And yet, I had my Additional Maths subject yesterday and flunked it. Why? Because I wasn’t being too urgent in writing my answers that I wasted too much time and too little questions and ended up running out of time with a few questions left blank.

My parents weren’t impressed when I told them about it, saying that I should have practiced more before going in for the exam. I felt terrible after checking through my question paper as I knew I could have done those questions had I focused on it a little more.

My mother, being the more understanding of my parents told me that I should have known how to control my time properly. And that its exams like these that would prepare people like us for the future. She told me that focusing and using up all my time on a single problem won’t help to resolve all my problems quickly and effectively.

She told me that doctors also had this problem. They couldn’t focus on a single patient and make him/her all better while the other patients wither away. Doctors have to treat each patient equally and give them medicine and painkillers to hold them out and hopefully help out all of them onto the road to recovery.

My mind...

Her statement really left a mark on me...

It was then that I decided that I should learn from my mistakes and move forward instead of hanging around wondering what could have been different.

With that in mind, I now focus on my next subjects and after my trials I’ll go in full steam ahead towards my finals. Hopefully, my results would speak for themselves by then.

On a side note,

Go All Blacks!

So far in the Rugby World Cup 2011, I’ve seen numerous almost-upsets, 2 streaking incidents, and my favorite team playing well in the competition, hopefully they win this time around. I’d be pissed if they didn’t.

Hang on folks…

Trying not to...

Well, it isn't working!

With my trial exams around the corner, I would not be able to update this blog for about three weeks starting from the 6th of September. I’ve got too much stuff to study right now and since this exam leads up to my finals, I can’t take any risks.

Man I wish I could study like this...

I will attempt to resume my normal schedule of constant blog updates as soon as I can. For now, please be patient and bear with me. Thank you for your understanding.

I should have an updated list of links to some of my other stuff, go check that out while I focus on my studies.

There is no ‘I’ in Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2!

Now be nice and make sure that they were killed gently...

One of my favorite pastimes is hanging around the World Wide Web and playing computer games. And one of my all time favorite games is none other than Valve’s War-themed hat simulator, Team Fortress 2.

If you didn’t know, no, Team Fortress 2 is not a hat simulator (obviously). It is a class based first-person shooter created by Valve Software in which two teams battle it out to gain objectives. This highly acclaimed game released in November of 2007 was one of the best team shooters ever to grace our tiny planet.

TF2 WAR update!

When in war, it is always a gained advantage if you take out an enemy.

What I love about this game is the insane amount of replayability and unpredictability every single time you play a single round in this game. Every round is different because different players would bring in different weapons to change up the strategies needed to play. It is also very satisfying to see your team working together to earn a well achieved objective. Every player in the game can choose various setups to suit their own unique playstyle and with the immense number of updates given out by Valve for the game, you can’t resist not having to play it for a few more hours a day.

What’s also cool is that Valve has made tons of little teasers in their blog about the game that makes the community wonder just what is coming up next. It’s little things like this that makes people glued to their seats, scratching their heads and thinking of many, many different theories as to what might be added to the game next.

They’ve used media like videos, comics and gags to not only explain the Team Fortress 2 world and storyline, but they also use this to tease the community on what they’re possible going to do next. They’ve also been participating in community events like competitions and talks to keep the community happy and that is what makes the game still going so strongly after all these years.

TF2, being one of the most critically acclaimed games out there throws out surprise after surprise once every month or so. The most interesting surprise being TF2 becoming a free-to-play game for all to play. This was announced a couple of months back and it really sent the community talking. Now there are all new players in the game that are just cannon fodder for explosives and bullets.

3. http://www.teamfortress.com/freetoplay/

Although it’s generally an old game, you should check it out if you have the time. They’ve added tons of content into the game and since it’s free-to-play, you have the chance to go and check it out. Of course if you don’t really like the game, I’m not forcing ya’ but just give it a try and you’ll understand how much care and love Valve put into a game like this.

4. I do not in any way own Team Fortress 2, nor do I work for Valve.

5. If you would like a link to the TF2 main blog, it can be found right here:

6. If you would like to play a game with me, I normally hang around Singapore or Malaysian servers like Starhub or LowYat servers.

7. Go ahead and ask me more about TF2 in your comments for this post.
